Expat babies in China must complete four essential documents within 30 days of birth. Doing them in order saves trips and headaches.
外籍宝宝在华出生后，30天内必须完成四项核心证件。按顺序办，省时又省力。

1.Birth Medical Certificate / 出生医学证明
Go to the hospital where your baby was born, bring both parents’ passports and marriage certificate (if applicable). This certificate is the foundation for everything else—don’t delay!
去宝宝出生的医院办理，需携带父母双方护照和结婚证（如有）。这是后续所有证件的基础，务必及时办理。

2.Newborn Passport / 新生儿护照
Parents apply on behalf of the baby at the embassy or consulate of the baby’s nationality in China. Submit the birth certificate, parents’ passports, and baby’s photos.
由父母代办，向宝宝国籍国驻华使领馆申请，需提交出生医学证明、父母护照和宝宝照片。

3.Birth Certificate Authentication & Translation / 出生证明认证+翻译

Required for applying for a residence permit. Make sure it meets official standards—otherwise, you might be rejected.
办理中国居留许可必备，必须符合官方标准，否则后续流程可能被拒。

4.Temporary Stay Registration / 临时停留登记
Within 30 days of birth, register at your local exit-entry office. Bring the baby’s passport, birth certificate, and parents’ residence permits.
出生30天内，到当地出入境管理部门登记。需提交宝宝护照、出生证明和父母居留证。

Translation & Authentication Tips / 翻译与认证小贴士

Many rejections happen because translations or authentications don’t meet official rules. Follow these closely:
很多家庭因为翻译或认证不合规，被直接拒办。务必严格遵守：

• Translation / 翻译: Must be done by a qualified agency and sealed. Keep it 100% consistent with the original document, no omissions or edits.
  翻译需由资质机构完成并加盖公章，内容要与原件完全一致，不得遗漏或修改。

• Authentication / 认证: Foreign birth certificates need notarization in the home country, then consular authentication by the Chinese embassy.
  境外出生证明先在本国公证，再由中国驻该国使领馆办理领事认证。

  
  

Quick Path to Parent-Child Residence Permit / 亲子居留快速通道

Once you have the documents, applying for the baby’s parent-child residence permit is straightforward—usually 5 working days.
办齐这些证件后，为宝宝申请亲子居留许可其实不难，一般5个工作日就能办好。

1.Prepare materials / 准备材料: Baby’s passport, authenticated & translated birth certificate, parents’ passports & residence permits, kinship certificate.

2.Submit application / 提交申请: Parents can handle this; baby doesn’t need to come in person.

3.Biometric info / 采集生物信息: For babies under 1 year, some regions waive fingerprint collection.

4.Collect residence permit / 领取居留证: Approval takes 3-5 working days; the minor’s permit is valid up to 3 years, but not beyond the baby’s 18th birthday.
